Stay above the pub

Welcome to The Inn Above The Narrows Public House.

This heritage designated home, H.R Silver House has an 80-seat pub on the main level and two self-contained units above that make up the Inn. Originally built in 1896, the property operated as a mercantile business and family residence for many years. With associations to the original Bluenose Schooner, the Lord Nelson Hotel and rum running, this property is rich in Nova Scotia history and folk lore, it even survived the Halifax explosion. As owners, we lived in the home for many years while restoring it, we created the kind of place we'd like to stay in, it's victorian, rustic, cozy, with lots of character. When staying with us we'll aim to make you feel at home while offering the kind of east coast hospitality you'd expect from a traditional maritime public house.

Centrally located in the newly bustling North End of Halifax, you'll enjoy being close to many great restaurants, bars, shops, cafes and amenities. Don't feel like going too far? No problem, head downstairs and enjoy a true Nova Scotian hospitality experience at The Narrows Pub. Traditional maritime food, local craft beer and cider, live music and friendly staff will make sure you have a memorable stay.

Special Considerations

This is a traditional pubic house. Like any good pub, it's lively but respectful. If you choose to stay at The Inn Above The Narrows, you should expect and be comfortable with the subtle sounds coming from a bustling neighbourhood watering hole. Travellers and locals alike use this house as means to socialize with each other, so you might hear the hum of the dinner crowd, or a few people laughing. What you won't hear is people shouting or amplified live music, because we're not that kind of place. The way we see it, this is a culturally rich and immersive experience for those who, like us, romanticize visiting a port city inn of the past. If you'd like to have this sort of experience, we'd be thrilled to put ya up for a couple nights.
